EDINBURG — A La Joya ISD school bus was involved in an accident in Edinburg on Friday afternoon, but no students were onboard and no serious injuries were reported, although one man was transported to the hospital.
Edinburg Police Department spokesperson Sarah Rodriguez said the accident occurred just after 2 p.m. Friday at the intersection of South Sugar Road and West University Drive when a Chevrolet Malibu exited a private driveway and struck the front right tire of the bus.
“The male driver of the Malibu is at fault and was the one transported,” Rodriguez said. “He wanted to get checked but did not have any injuries.”
Rodriguez said the scene was clear as of 3 p.m. and the road is now open.
La Joya ISD Public Relations and Communications Coordinator Blanca Cantu said the district was aware of the incident.
