Edinburg judge honored by St. Mary’s University School of Law

EDINBURG — Judge Mario E. Ramirez Jr., who presides over the 332nd District Court, was honored as one of the 2019 Distinguished Law Graduates by St. Mary’s University Law Alumni Association on Nov. 2. 

After earning his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1975, Ramirez began his career in 1980 as the presiding judge of Hidalgo County Court-at-Law 2 and served on the bench of the 93 District Court from 1981 to 1982. 

Since the court’s establishment in 1983, Ramirez has presided over the 332nd in Edinburg, while serving as the overseer of the Juvenile Probation Department for over 36 years. 

Currently, Ramirez serves as the local administrative presiding judge for the Hidalgo County Board of Judges.

Ramirez will be celebrating his 40th judicial anniversary in January. 

Ramirez was introduced by past recipient 430th District Court Judge Israel Ramon Jr. at the Grand Hyatt hotel in San Antonio.
