BROWNSVILLE — In order to raise Flu Vaccine Awareness, Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. will visit the Walgreens in Brownsville located at 1525 Central Blvd. to receive his annual flu shot on Thursday at 2 p.m.
“Each flu season is unpredictable and we never know when it will peak or how severe it’s going to be. We do know the flu shot is the best protection against the flu,” Senator Lucio said.
This event will be open to the public. A Walgreens pharmacist will be in attendance to discuss and answer questions pertaining the flu season and vaccine.
“It’s important to know that by getting the flu shot, you’re protecting yourself, your loved ones and your community from influenza” Senator Lucio said.
Seven days a week, Walgreens offers flu shots without appointments necessary. Flu shots are free to the patient with most insurance during pharmacy or clinic hours. Any healthcare clinic is also available to provide flu shots under similar circumstances. However, state, age and health restrictions may apply.
Furthermore, Walgreens is returning the “Get a Shot. Give a Shot.” campaign for a seventh season up until January 31, 2020. Walgreens will donate the value of a life-saving vaccine to a child in need for every flu shot or other vaccine administered at a Walgreens pharmacy or Healthcare Clinic.
