McAllen bank robbery suspect arraigned

According to a statement, the man accused of robbing PlainsCapital Bank in McAllen on Monday afternoon was arraigned Wednesday on the charge of robbery, a second degree felony.

The bond for 41-year-old Juan Michael Perez of McAllen has been set at $200,000.

On Tuesday, Perez was located and arrested in rural Hidalgo County, according to a news release from the police department.

Perez’s arrest was the result of multi-agency collaborative efforts which included the McAllen Police Department, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Perez is accused of robbing a PlainsCapital Bank located in the 7200 block of North 10th Street just after noon on Monday. According to the statement, tellers told authorities he entered the bank, demanded money and fled in a grey vehicle.

Police did not disclose how much money was taken from the bank as they continue the investigation.
