Docs: Mission man admits to shooting neighbor’s dog with BB gun

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 24-year-old Mission man who admitted to shooting his neighbor’s dog with a BB gun in late July, according to a probable cause affidavit.

On or about July 24, a woman was outside her Mission home with her brown Dachshund, Lili, when the dog began running and yelping in pain, the record shows.

She noticed a puncture wound on the dog’s leg and saw Martin Ochoa Jr. walking to his house, so she confronted Ochoa, according to the court document.

“Martin told her Lili is always killing his cats,” the complaint states.

Ochoa was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals, which is a state jail felony. If convicted, Ochoa faces 180 days to two years and up to a $10,000 fine.
