Edcouch man accused of punching, kicking cop during traffic stop

Police stopped a 50-year-old Edcouch man on Saturday driving near the 700 block of North FM 1015, who admitted to drinking, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Juan Oseguera is accused of refusing to exit his vehicle, and kicking and punching the officer, the document reads.

An Edcouch police officer “removed” Oseguera from his vehicle, the pair “lost their balance” and “fell to the back of the truck,”  the report reads. The officers noted assistance was required to restrain the suspect.

Oseguera was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a public servant. If convicted, he faces two to ten years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine for the third degree felony and up to a year in jail or a $4,000 fine for the class A misdemeanor.
