Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday announced the appointment of Jonathan Scepanski of McAllen to the Texas Funeral Service Commission, for a term set to expire in 2025.

The funeral commission establishes standards to license funeral directors and embalmers, examines applicants and issues licenses and regulates cemetery and crematory services.

Scepanski is Chief Operating Officer with Apex Primary Care in Edinburg and sits as president of the Texas Association for Home Care and Hospice’s board of directors.

Abbott on Tuesday announced two other appointments to the funeral commission — one from Lubbock and the other from Whiteright, north of Dallas.
