Potential for lower temperatures on the horizon

While today seems to be standard fare, the next few days may have something nice in store for the Rio Grande Valley.

The Valley is split right about down the middle today, with areas from McAllen and to the west hitting 100 degrees, and everything to the east staying just under, all the way down to 88 degrees on South Padre Island, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a very slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm this afternoon, though the rest of the week will see better chances.

Starting Wednesday, NWS is predicting highs not to exceed 97 degrees, with Thursday topping out at 99. This is due to a front coming in Tuesday night and bringing with it higher chances of rain.

The chance of rain will stay throughout the week, though primarily on the coastal areas in the latter half of the week.
