DHS Secretary returns to McAllen Border Patrol facility

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Kevin K. McAleenan was in McAllen again on Wednesday, visiting U.S. Border Patrol’s McAllen station less than a week after his visit with Vice President Mike Pence.

Last week, McAleenan toured the facility and receive a briefing on its operations. On this trip, he examined the effects of the emergency supplemental funding passed by Congress earlier this month that provides DHS and other agencies additional resources to manage the ongoing “humanitarian and border security crisis,” DHS officials said in a news release.

“Although migration numbers across the Southwest border have seen a decline in June, the Rio Grande Valley Sector, where the McAllen Station is located, continues to see historic volumes of family units and children crossing the border illegally,” the release stated.
