Man indicted for allegedly importing 3,000 oxycodone pills

Mission resident Jose Luis Guerra Jr. was charged Wednesday with allegedly importing opiate pills into the United States from Mexico, according to a news release.

Guerra was apprehended June 7 while attempting to cross the border in Progreso with 3,000 oxycodone pills. Records indicate he was making his way across the border on foot with a number of cookie boxes.

When authorities searched the boxes, they found approximately 3,000 pills.

Guerra faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $1 million.
