The following photos show significant flooding in Monte Alto, where waters had yet to recede as of Tuesday. The damage seen here was sustained during the thunderstorms that hit the Rio Grande Valley on Monday evening, leaving large portions of Hidalgo, Willacy and Cameron counties deluged, sustaining wind damage, and residents requiring rescue.

Flooding in the area is especially noteworthy considering it occurred just two days after the first-year anniversary of the Great June Flood of 2018, when between June 18 and 22 a similar weather event caused tens of millions of dollars of damage to the region, prompting multi-million dollar drainage improvement projects and a presidential national disaster declaration.

The following are photos submitted by readers documenting damages in their respective areas.
