The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of the Rio Grande Valley from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. today.
Other than the coastal regions, the Valley is looking at temperatures in the triple digits across the board. McAllen may reach as high as 102, while Zapata and Rio Grande City get closer to 110 degrees.
When factoring for the heat index, temperatures are going to feel closer to between 111 and 115 degrees.
Tomorrow is looking to be nearly as high, with temperatures dropping only a couple degrees by the weekend.
Anyone who needs to be outside is encouraged to drink plenty of water, wear clothes conducive to high temperatures and take a break from the sun when possible.
