It may seem silly to call temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s low, but when compared to last week’s highs, 97 degrees as a high for today doesn’t seem so bad.
Currently, forecasts show a high of 97 for the McAllen area today, with a low of 73 degrees. Earlier this morning, the National Weather Service reported a 20 percent chance of rain, but this has since been removed from the forecast.
The Brownsville area benefits a bit from the ocean with its lower highs, sitting around 93 degrees with a potential low of 76.
The weekend, however, is another story. Projections show temperatures reaching 104 degrees, and even higher at the beginning of next week.
