Woman arrested after crashing into husband

The Brownsville Police Department arrested a 26-year-old woman for allegedly causing a weekend motorcycle crash after an argument with her husband.

BPD Spokeswoman Melissa Gonzalez said Zury Alvarez is charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle after police responded to the 500 block of North Expressway 77 Saturday morning at about 7:25 a.m. regarding an SUV and a motorcycle that were involved in a crash.

“Through further investigation, detectives were able to determine she had collided into the motorcycle causing the crash,” Gonzalez said.

Alvarez’s spouse is a 31-year-old man who is in stable condition, authorities say.

“There were witnesses that stated both of them were traveling at a high rate of speed,” Gonzalez.

According to police, the argument occurred “way prior to the incident.”
