The last two Rio Grande Valley high school baseball teams standing in the UIL state playoffs have released their 5A Region IV Semifinals schedules and both will be going to work on the road.
Sharyland High and Sharyland Pioneer punched their tickets to the fourth round after picking up series wins this past weekend over La Joya Palmview and Rio Grande City, respectively.
The Sharyland High Rattlers (32-5) will now square off in a three-game series against Kerrville Tivy (28-11) with Game 1 set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Riverside Park in Victoria. Game 2 will shift to Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi at 3 p.m. Saturday, with Game 3 (if necessary) 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2.
The Sharyland Pioneer Diamondbacks (33-8) will travel to Laredo where they’ll face Boerne-Champion (34-5) in a three-game series beginning 7 p.m. Friday. Game 2 is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, with Game 3, if necessary, to follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2. All three games will be played at Uni-Trade Stadium in Laredo.
Winners of each playoff matchup will go on to meet in the 5A Region IV Final next week.
