Morning clouds will give way to a mix of sun and clouds Friday afternoon in the Rio Grande Valley, according to the National Weather Service in Brownsville. Expect afternoon highs to be in the upper 80s to lower to mid 90s inland and lower to mid 80s along the coast.
Southeast winds will increase later this morning, becoming breezy, especially along the coast.
Highs will be 90 in Brownsville, 92 in McAllen, 93 in Rio Grande City and 80 in South Padre Island.
Looking ahead, expect a very warm and humid weekend across the region. There is a 20 percent chance of rain and/or thunderstorms Saturday just north of the Valley. Temperatures in some areas may be close to hitting 100 this weekend and early next week.
There will be breezy and windy conditions almost every day in the extended outlook.
