Teen dies in crash, Raymondville woman charged with intoxication manslaughter

A 26-year-old woman from Raymondville was charged with intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault after allegedly causing a three-vehicle accident that left a 19-year-old man dead and his son critically injured, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.

The crash occurred at around 9:45 p.m. Thursday on Business 77, south of Farm-to-Market Road 3168 in Raymondville.

Dayna Louise Salinas was booked into the Willacy County jail after the accident. Jonathan Young, of Raymondville, was transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. His son was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital.

Salinas was driving a maroon 2007 Chevrolet Impala north on Business 77 with a passenger when she attempted to veer right into the shoulder lane but struck a black 2010 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Young instead. The Malibu then skidded across into oncoming traffic in the southbound lane, were it was struck by a white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado and careened off the roadway into the west shoulder.

The Impala, meanwhile, ended up in a covert, where it dislodged a tree and became stuck.

DPS continues to investigate the accident.
