McALLEN — The recount in the District 5 McAllen City Commission race was completed on Wednesday and it yielded no changes to the final vote tallies, confirming a runoff election is now set for June 22 between incumbent John Ingram and challenger Victor “Seby” Haddad, a banker and a businessman.

The District 5 final tally, which city commissioners approved in a canvass on Monday, showed Ingram receiving 570 votes (50%) compared to Haddad’s 463 votes (40%). The third candidate in that race, Mark Murray, received 110 votes (10%). A candidate needs to receive more than 50% to win an election outright.

Wednesday’s recount confirmed those same numbers, according to the McAllen City Secretary’s Office, which oversees city elections.
