Edinburg man arrested at border for child indecency

A 75-year-old Edinburg man matching an outstanding arrest warrant for child indecency was arrested Sunday while attempting to cross the Hidalgo-Reynosa International Bridge, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release.

CBP officers used “biometric verification” to identify Horacio Natividad Aguirre, a legal permanent resident, as the man wanted by the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office for two second-degree felonies charges of indecency with a child and child fondling, according to the release. Aguirre was charged in April.

CBP notes three others with arrest warrants for various charges were detained the previous day.

“Being able to assist our law enforcement community in detecting those people who are fugitives of the law is one of our abilities at CBP Field Operations,” said Port Director Sylvia Briones in the release.
