There is a marginal risk for severe weather Monday in the Rio Grande Valley, according to the National Weather Service in Brownsville. The risk of a severe storm is low, but there is a potential for an isolated thunderstorm that can produce winds, large hail, frequent lightning and the chance for an isolated tornado.
The forecast for Monday calls for a 30% to 40% chance for thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and and evening. Otherwise, mostly cloudy skies are expected with highs in the mid to upper 80s.
Both McAllen and Brownsville are expected to be 88. South Padre Island is expected to reach 79. There is also a moderate risk for rip tides for the Island beaches.
