After a mild start to the day, temperatures will warm up into the mid to upper 80s Monday across the Rio Grande Valley, according tot he National Weather Service in Brownsville.
Upper 70s to lower 80s are expected near the coast.
Expect winds to increase later Monday morning with gusts around 30 mph possible. The winds are expected to make the bay and Gulf waters choppy. Monday, however, will be slightly less windy than Sunday.
Looking ahead, there are chances for isolated showers and thunderstorms Tuesday (20%) and Wednesday (40%) when a weak cold front arrives overnight into the predawn hours of Thursday.
Rain and clouds will clear west to east behind the cold front, resulting in sunny and mostly sunny skies Thursday afternoon to Saturday.
Afternoon high temperatures will remain warm to very warm behind the cold front, though humidity will be lower with slightly cooler morning low temps.
