Mission police: Undocumented immigrant shot by homeowner

MISSION — A 72-year-old man shot an undocumented immigrant who was on his property Tuesday, according to Mission police spokesman Art Flores.

Police responded to the scene on Main and Beatty Streets at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.

While avoiding Border Patrol, three out of a group of 11 immigrants found themselves on the property, according to Mission police. When the homeowner saw the group, he opened fire on a 25-year-old man, police said.

The man was shot in the stomach by the homeowner and is receiving medical attention at Mission Regional Hospital. Flores said the homeowner is not yet facing charges but the case continues to be under investigation.
