State Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr., D-Brownsville, confirmed via his staff Friday that he is opposed to a confirmation vote for Texas Secretary of State candidate, David Whitley. Sen. Judith Zaffirini, D-Laredo, publicly stated Friday that she would also oppose the confirmation.

The Dallas Morning News reported Friday that all 12 Texas Senate Democrats have said they would oppose Whitley’s confirmation, which would make it impossible for him to be confirmed.
