McAllen High School graduate and Texas A&M University freshman Shaine Casas placed 4th in the 200-yard individual medley during the SEC Swimming and Diving Championship Wednesday in Athens, Georgia.
Casas finished with the second fastest time during prelims with a time of 1 minutes, 43.21 seconds.
During his junior year, Casas earned silver medals in both the 200-yard IM and in the 100-yard butterfly at the UIL Class 6A state meet. As a senior, he earned a bronze in the 100-yard butterfly and a silver in the 100-yard backstroke at state.
He also has raced with the junior national team and was nominated for the Male Athlete of the Year at the All-Valley Sports Awards Banquet in 2018.
