Elsa woman killed in three-car collision

A three-vehicle collision claimed the life of an Elsa woman and sent two people to the hospital on Saturday, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety news release.
DPS confirmed the death of 55-year-old Maria Andrea Rodriguez following the crash, which occurred around 2:52 p.m. in the vicinity of FM 88 and Mile 12 North Road.
Rodriguez was identified by DPS as the driver and sole occupant of a blue Chevrolet Trax, which according to the release: “was stopped facing south on the left turn lane of FM 88 for a red traffic light.”
The male driver of a white Ford F-250, who has not been identified by authorities, lost control of his vehicle and veered from northbound FM 88 onto the left turning lane of southbound FM 88, striking Rodriguez’s Trax and a white Chevy Malibu stopped behind her.
The Malibu was driven by a man who authorities have also not identified. Both malls drivers involved in the incident were taken to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene.
