Starr Co. investigators: Body found with ‘road rash’

Starr County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a homicide near Roma after finding a man’s body that appeared to have been dragged on a roadway.

It’s unclear from the news release when the body was found in Fronton, a community west of Roma that sits on the riverbank of the Rio Grande.

Investigators, however, noted the body appeared to exhibit “road rash,” according to a news release from the Starr County Sheriff’s office. Witnesses saw a white pickup truck leaving the scene.

Deputies, who did not release further information about the case, identified the man through a Mexican voter registration card he carried with him, but withheld his identity Sunday while family was notified.
