A 16-year-old will likely face capital murder charges Monday in connection to a fatal stabbing in Donna, Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra said Sunday.
Homicide investigators arrested the teen for the stabbing death of Arturo Hermes Hernandez, 69, the sheriff said via his Twitter account.
Another person remained in critical condition after the stabbing in Donna, according to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s department.
Details about the altercation were not immediately disclosed, but investigators expect to release more information Monday, Guerra said.
The incident occurred near the corner of Val Verde and Alberta Road in Donna at about 3:44 a.m. Sunday.
This is the first homicide Hidalgo County deputies investigate this year.
