The City of Edinburg hired Miriam Cepeda as a full-time political affairs liaison to push local interests in Austin and Washington.
Cepeda is best known for a CNN video in which she campaigns for then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in the Rio Grande Valley during the 2016 election.

“We’re very excited to have Miriam join our team. We’re working to take our city to the next level of greatness,” Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina said in a statement. “Miriam will be our voice at the state and national level. With her work, we’re going to secure grants and new funding that the residents of Edinburg deserve.”
Cepeda most recently worked as the RGV Bureau Chief with conservative outlet Empower Texans.
“I’m excited to be a part of a team that runs on transparency for the constituents of Edinburg,” Cepeda wrote in a statement. “Edinburg deserves as much funding as any other city in the state and I intend on finding resources for our city to grow and have people proud to call it home. My promise, is when Austin or D.C. thinks of the Valley, they’ll think of Edinburg as the ‘All American City.'”
Cepeda worked on the Trump presidential campaign in New Hampshire and has been a liaison for the White House and Republican Party. She’s also worked in public relations for the National Federation of Women.
