LETTER: A bottle of water and a protein bar

Everyone is asking how the CBP could have not seen the health situation of a child crossing the border to seek asylum. It’s the wrong question.

Why isn’t the CBP, ICE, or anyone taking border crossers into custody giving them a bottle of water and a protein bar immediately? This could avoid mistakes by subjective actors. It may well save money as well as lives.
