DPS investigating Edinburg police shooting

The Texas Rangers, an investigative division of the Texas Department of Public Safety, is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Edinburg on Monday.

The shooting occurred shortly after 9 p.m. when Edinburg police responded to a disturbance call in the 2600 block of Amanda Drive involving an intoxicated man wielding a knife, police said in a news release.

The 46-year-old man was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Edinburg police are not releasing any more details at this time.
