Those needing assistance with their light bill can seek help through next Thursday at the Peñitas Public Library.
The city of Peñitas and the Hidalgo County Community Service Agency have partnered to provide assistance for those who can’t afford their light bill.
The Community Service Agency will be onsite at the library, located at 1111 S. Main St. in Peñitas, through Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those who choose to take advantage of the assistance must bring the following items:
>> Proof of citizenship or legal residency (must be original documents), such as a birth certificate and ID, voter registration card and ID, U.S. passport, certificate of naturalization or permanent resident card
>> Social security numbers for everyone in the household
>> Current electric bill and disconnection notice
>> Proof of income from the last 30 days, such as pay stubs, SS/SSI benefit letter, retirement or pension letter, child support, TANF and food stamps, or a housing letter with utility reimbursement amount (bank statements are not acceptable).
