A cold front Thursday will include high winds for deep South Texas, creating critical fire weather conditions for the area.
The Red Flag warning is from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, and outdoor burning is not recommended. The conditions will be ideal for fires to spread rapidly.
Winds are expected to reach 35 mph with gusts reaching 50 mph, or possibly higher. Starr County is under a high wind advisory while the rest of the Rio Grande Valley is under a wind advisory.
