A cold front is expected to move into the region Thursday, according to the National Weather Service in Brownsville.
High temperatures are expected to be in the 70s Thursday with lows between 57 and 64 degrees. Temps will drop into the 60s on Friday with lows in the 40s.
The front will bring windy conditions of up to 40 miles per hour with possible gusts even stronger. The wind coupled with dryer air behind the front will cause critical fire weather conditions likely on Thursday and Friday.
On Tuesday, deep South Texas was placed under a Fire Weather Watch for Thursday. Outdoor burning is not recommended as fires that develop will likely spread quickly.
