DPS to ramp up Thanksgiving holiday enforcement

Texas troopers will be increasing patrols over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend in an effort to reduce accidents and keep all drivers safe.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers will be on the lookout for drunken drivers, speeders and those not wearing seatbelts, the agency said Monday.

DPS issued more than 73,000 traffic citations and warnings during last year’s Thanksgiving holiday weekend and troopers arrested more than 300 drivers statewide for driving while intoxicated.

The agency reminds drivers to make alternate travel plans if consuming alcohol, not to drive fatigued and to slow down in bad weather conditions.
