Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrested a La Blanca man on a charge of manslaughter after a passenger in his truck was killed in a crash Saturday.
Leobardo Leal, 18, was charged in the death of Ines Moronez, 50, who was a passenger in a 1997 GMC truck.
Leal was driving northbound on Farm-to-Market 493 near La Blanca at about 10:52 p.m. Saturday when he “for unknown reasons lost control” and crashed in a field, according to information provided by DPS. Moronez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Justice of the Peace Jason Pena set Leal’s bond at $750,000 on the manslaughter charge, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
