Certain students in Hidalgo County will get a later start than usual on Friday due to a winter weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service.
Edinburg high schools will start school at 9:50 a.m., while middle school students will begin at 9:25 a.m. Elementary students at Edinburg CISD should show up at 9 a.m.
All Edinburg CISD district staff will report to campus by 8:30 a.m.
McAllen ISD has decided on a delayed start time Friday for all of its schools. Elementary schools begin at 9:05 a.m., middle school classes begin at 9:10 a.m. and high school classes begins at 9:20 a.m. Campus staff will begin work at 8:30 a.m.
Classes for Weslaco ISD students will begin an hour later than normally scheduled. School buses will be 30 minutes later than normal, according to the district’s spokeswoman.
Morning classes will also be delayed at Edcouch-Elsa ISD campuses, where school is now scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Friday. Teachers and staff, however, are still expected to report work at their normal hours “to help receive students.” Hours of dismissal for both students and staff will remain on schedule.
According to a Facebook announcement from Edcouch-Elsa Superintendent Ronaldo Cavazos, buses will also be running 30 minutes later than normal, “and mini-vans or buses will be available to pick up any student that missed the first route.”
Mission schools will begin classes at 9:45 a.m. for elementary schools, 10 a.m. for junior high schools and 10:15 for high schools. School bus pick up times will also be delayed by two hours.
Campus staff should report to work by 9 a.m.
The school day will end at its regular time.
The PSJA school district announced it will keep normal school hours for Friday, Dec. 8. District officials will monitor the weather overnight and will notify parents of any changes via a mass phone call. Notification would also be posted on the district’s social media sites and website.
