RIO GRANDE CITY — Police seized hundreds of pounds of marijuana in Rio Grande City Tuesday during a traffic stop, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The apprehended vehicle contained 70 bundles of marijuana weighing 801 pounds, a total worth of $4,861,269.
A trooper attempted to stop 2008 Saturn VUE on Business Highway 83 around 7:40 a.m. for a traffic violation. The vehicle eventually stopped and the driver, who fled on foot, had not been found. The case remains under investigation.
