WhiteWings hold off Roadrunners

EDINBURG —The Edinburg Roadrunners sent the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth but their rally fell short, losing 8-5 to the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings on Friday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Edgar Martinez recorded three strikeouts in the ninth to help secure the win for the ’Wings. Luis Chirinos (4-2) picked up the win after allowing three runs on five hits and striking out eight in seven innings pitched.

The Roadrunners and WhiteWings will wrap up their series with Game 4 at 7:05 tonight at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
