GRAND FORKS, N.D. — UTPA baseball split its doubleheader Saturday with North Dakota.
The Broncs won Game 1 9-0 behind Dusten Knight’s 4-hit shutout. They then lost Game 2 7-2. The Broncs are now 24-22 overall and 14-5 in the Great West Conference.
Knight struck out a career-high 14 in the opener, getting support in the form of 13 hits (three each from Alberto Morales and Jacob Huckabay). In the second game, UND jumped on Matt Daniels from the outset and cruised their way to victory. The Broncs wound up losing 3 of 4 in this series. They dropped both games Friday, including a debilitating loss in Game 2.
Riley Goulding did get hits in both games to extend his hitting streak to 19. The Broncs are currently in a fight for first place in conference with Northern Colorado. Sure enough, that’s who they’ll visit next weekend.
