UTPA welcomed a new recruit and parted ways with a current player.
The school announced Friday that Alex Majewski officially signed his National Letter of Intent to play with the Broncs next season. He is 6-6, 180 and hails from Chicago’s Brother Rice High. Majewski was initially recruited by former Broncs coach Ryan Marks and verbally before new coach Dan Hipsher took over.
Hipsher, though, in one of his first acts as coach, was able to keep him and get him to sign. The other three incoming recruits — Jacob Raspopovich, LJ McIntosh and Marcel Simon — are all still expected to attend UTPA even though they were recruited and signed by Marks.
That’s not the case for redshirt guard AJ Moutry, who was non-renewed. The Texas-native came to the Broncs from McKinney, but will not be staying. The opens up a scholarship for Hipsher, who will now be able to bring in at least one player of his own.
UTPA returns eight players (two starters) from last year’s team. The school will join the Western Athletic Conference on July 1.
