Wingo, Roadrunners beat Thunder

From Roadrunners reports

EDINBURG —Scott Wingo allowed one run in seven innings and struck out six leading the Edinburg Roadrunners past the McAllen Thunder 6-3 Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the fifth when Eric Eiland hit an RBI double to left field that allowed Derek Marshall to score giving the Thunder (15-23) the 1-0 lead.

The Roadrunners (17-22) answered back in the bottom of the fifth against Thunder starter Frank James. Adam Gordon reached on after a dropped fly ball that allowed him to reach second. After a fielder’s choice off the bat of C.J. Beatty, Robert Matlock hit an RBI single to center field that allowed Gordon to score tying the game. Gabe Memmert then followed with a two-run single that scored Beatty and Matlock.

Wingo (3-2) picked up the win for Edinburg while Frank James (1-1) got the loss after allowing three runs in four and a third innings of work.

The Roadrunners and Thunder will play the final game of their four-game series tonight at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Toro Trevino (2-1) is expected to pitch for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
