Bees fall to Bucks on road in shootout

From Bees Reports

LAREDO — The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to the Laredo Bucks Sunday at the Laredo Entertainment Center. It was the second game in a row and third time in four meetings that the teams went to the shootout.

Darryl Smith got credit for the game-winner with his first round shootout goal. Bucks goalie JP Levasseur turned aside all four shootout attempts by the Killer Bees (6-4-2).

Jesse Bennefield gave RGV a 1-0 lead with his sixth goal at the 12:13 mark of the first period, but the Bucks bounced back in the second period to take the lead on a pair of goals by Eric Giosa.

Bennefield tied it a 2-2 with 30 seconds left in regulation for his second goal of the night while RGV had goalie Andy Franck pulled in favor of an extra attacker. Daymen Rycroft extended his scoring streak to eight games (3-12-15) with an assist on the goal.
