Roadrunners end season with win

 

EDINBURG —The Edinburg Roadrunners ended their 2011 season on a three-game win streak after defeating the San Angelo Colts 3-1 Sunday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Jose Pablo Oyervidez (3-1) pitched eight innings and allowed one run, which was unearned, while scattering three hits and striking out seven.

The Roadrunners (37-52) got on the scoreboard in bottom of the first against Alfredo Caballero. Antonio De Jesus led off the inning with a single and then moved to third after a single by Stantrel Smith. R.J. Harris then hit a sacrifice fly scoring De Jesus from third for a 1-0 lead.

Mike Schurz pitched a scoreless ninth for his third save of the season giving the Roadrunners the 3-1 victory.
