Indoor football team to announce coach, moniker

McALLEN — The Rio Grande Valley’s Southern Indoor Football team on Friday is holding a news conference to announce its head coach and nickname. The news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn located at 617 Expressway 83 in McAllen.
The franchise’s moniker is from a name-the-team contest that received over 1,000 entries. The winner will receive lifetime season tickets and an opportunity to take part in the coin toss at the team’s opening game next season, along with a jersey.
The team will also announce its first head coach. Team owner Chad Dittman said he received “over 50” resumes for the position, and that the coach is a former NFL player.
