Lee becomes all-time leader during loss to Texas Brahmas
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS — Killer Bees winger Aaron Lee passed Ryan Shmyr and became the franchise’s all-time leader in regular season games played at 224, but the Bees lost 4-2 to the Texas Brahmas. With the loss, the Bees fall into fourth place by themselves in the Berry Conference, two points behind the Brahmas for third and two ahead of fifth-place Tulsa. The victory salvages two points for the Brahmas in the teams’ three-game weekend series. The Bees and Brahmas were tied at 1 after the first period but Texas’ T.J. Fox scored two in the second to give the Brahmas a 3-1 lead. Lee scored his 17th of the season in the third to cut the deficit in half but the Brahmas got a late empty-netter to clinch the victory. Lee was signed by former coach Chris Brooks prior to the 2008-09 season and has risen to become one of the franchise’s most-important players. Now in his fourth season, Lee has missed only five games, one of which was due to an AHL call-up last month. He can also become the Bees’ all-time leading goal scorer if he collects 15 more this season, which would give him 91, one more than Bill Newson’s 90. The Bees play again Tuesday when they host Laredo.
