Batista, WhiteWings Walk-Off Winners in 12

HARLINGEN — Wilson Batista delivered the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the 12th inning on a fielder’s choice to give the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings a 4-3 victory over the Edinburg Roadrunners on Friday night.

With the bases loaded and one out, Batista hit a slow roller up the middle. To end the inning, the Roadrunners tried to turn the double play. They got the out at second, but Batista beat out the throw to first, allowing the runner from third to be safe at the plate to provide the winning run.

It was the second straight night the WhiteWings and Roadrunners went to extra innings. The two teams combined to play for 28 innings in the past two games.

The WhiteWings close out their season series with the Roadrunners finishing 21-8 against their rival from Edinburg.

Wander Perez (1-1) gets the win for the WhiteWings while James Giuletti (0-6) gets the loss.
