Boucher salvages one point for Bees

From Killer Bees reports

RIO RANCHO, N.M. - Mike Benyon scored in overtime to give the New Mexico Scorpions a 3-2 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the Santa Ana Star Center.

Christian Boucher made 47 saves for RGV in the loss while Jesse Bennefield extended his goal streak to three games.

The Scorpions took a 2-0 lead on goals by Torren Delforte and Neil Trimm, but the Bees responded with a Zak McClellan power play goal at 12:55 of the second period to cut the lead in half.

Jesse Bennefield snapped home his team-leading 15th goal of the season 15:38 into the third period to knot things at 2. Nic Dumoulin and Nathan Ansell collected the helpers on Bennefield's goal. Ansell stole a long stretch pass in neutral ice to prevent a New Mexico breakway and lead Dumoulin into the offensive zone.

Andrew Martin turned aside 36 shots to snap New Mexico's two-game losing streak.

The overtime loss is RGV's first of the year and extends its winless skid to five games (0-4-1).
