Thunder outslug Roadrunners

EDINBURG —The McAllen Thunder hit three home runs in the top of the fourth inning to power past the Edinburg Roadrunners 9-5 on Tuesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Thunder (29-42) grabbed the lead in the top of the third.  Eric Eiland led off the inning with a double and then came into score on an RBI single by Antoin Gray making it 1-0 McAllen.

In the top of the fourth, McAllen hit three home runs off of Edinburg starter Toro Trevino (4-5) and took the 7-0 lead.

The Roadrunners (27-44) responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth.  C.J. Beatty hit a lead-off triple and then Robert Matlock delivered an RBI single making it 7-1 McAllen.

Back-to-back singles in the bottom of the fifth put two runners on for Beatty who then hit a three-run home run, his 13th of the season.  Osiel Flores walked with two outs and then came around to score on an RBI double by D.J. Dixon that made it 7-5.
