From Roadrunners Reports

EDINBURG - Roadrunners catcher Cameron McGuire went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Edinburg to a 5-4 over the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings on Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

It was scoreless baseball through the first three innings of play until RGV's Alberto Cruz and Joaquin Rodriguez scored two unearned runs in the fourth.

The Roadrunners (9-12) responded by scoring four runs in their half of the fourth courtesy of passed balls by WhiteWings catcher Justin Holloway, which gave Edinburg the edge 4-2 to end the inning.

Edinburg starter Pedro Flores allowed a lead-off walk and a single to Whitewings (10-11) hitters in the sixth inning and was relieved by Bryan Martin, who allowed RGV another run in the sixth on an RBI single by Stephen Ward.

In the top of the seventh after Kelly Casares came in as relief for the Roadrunners, RGV's Ryan Kottke tied the game with a single.

The Roadrunners responded in the bottom of the eighth on a double to left center by McGuire to give Edinburg a 5-4 lead.

Edinburg closer Ray Silva faced four Whitewing hitters to pitch a scoreless ninth for his first save of the season.

The two teams continue their four-game series tonight and wrap up the set on Sunday.
