Bees Reports

HIDALGO —The Killer Bees never trailed in their 6-2 win over the Missouri Mavericks on Friday night at Dodge Arena. Andrew Schembri posted two goals, while Sean Muncy and Justin Kanigan both netted their first professional goals in the contest.

Kanigan started things at the 5:01 mark of the first period in his first game of the season with helpers from Muncy and Zak McClellan. Grant Goeckner-Zoeller followed with his fifth goal of the season at the 7:24 mark on the power play with assists from Daymen Rycroft and Nathan Ansell for a 2-0 Bees lead.

Just 79 seconds later Rycroft scored, ending Missouri netminder Doug Groenestege’s night and sending in former Bees goalie Mike Gorman. Muncy proceed to beat Gorman at the 10:05 mark to extend RGV’s lead 4-0.

The Mavericks got on the board at the 10:38 mark, with Carlyle Lewis scoring off an assist by Jeff Christian.
